André Cervera

André Cervera, a painter, born in 1962, lives and works in Sète (France) and has travelled extensively throughout the world… Attached to the school of Sète, André Cervera does not however claim to be part of the Figuration Libre movement: “It is true that I frequented Robert Combas and Hervé Di Rosa,” he says. I have been influenced by these artists, but I am a free electron”.

Some would see in him a new genre called “Latin expressionism”, identifiable by the very fact of his own style. “Today in China, yesterday in India, the day before yesterday in Africa and sometimes around the Thau Basin, André Cervera does not travel. He goes away, here or far away, to blend into the universe of each other and – strange predator – to seize anything that seems to be an answer to universal questions about life, death, the human being, the beyond…”.
