The “pop” and “primitive arts” planets gravitate around those of Gilbert Petit (alias Gilbert Mazout). I remember future times, reminds us of our dreams and extrapolations of worlds and objects, in close utopian, tragic, radiant and flamboyant futures, nourished by the sap of children’s imaginations. A fuel for the present. He who imagined the year 2000 with shining eyes, did not see the cars flying after all. But when he returned from the future, he looked at other stories, sometimes past, sometimes in progress, about worlds and cultures. I remember…
In its desire to address questions around memory, the Teodora Galerie invites Gilbert Petit and confronts urban art and contemporary art. This first exhibition announces a programme in this line. I remember future times, like an obsession of the artist, stemming from a collective imagery.
