The exhibition Mitsein from 05 to 20 October 2018 brought together 5 painters, graffiti artists and illustrators to tell us about
about the relationship with others, whether it be in love, filial, or simply human.
“Being with” or Mitsein, is a philosophical concept from the German philosopher Martin Heidegger. Certain questions arise:
– Is the Other another Self?
– How do others manifest themselves to us and what relationship do we have with these other individualities?
It is the notion of the “I” that, in the background, also seems to be posed as a form of intersubjectivity of beings that the artists have sought to embody, through work that is both intimate and multiple, as if to bring us closer to a form of authenticity and interiority. Mitsein is an invitation to encounter the Other or to rediscover this encounter, the artists question the uniqueness of beings and the notion of being together.
