Zahrédine Méziane

Born in June 1990 and originating from a large city in Algeria (Tlemcen), he owes his pronounced taste for artisanal know-how to his culture and numerous influences. The main influence was that of his father: the son of a cabinetmaker, he spent his days in his workshop creating objects with simple pieces of wood. Thus, very early on he understood that the material had to be transformed and modified ad infinitum to give it life.

At the age of 9, he set down his suitcases in his new country: France. Before this great departure, his imagination was in turmoil, and he was in a hurry to discover new people, a new culture, a new language… A change of life that gave him the chance to travel the world, from America to Europe, through Africa, and finally the Middle East…

At a very young age he quickly understood that he was devoted to the arts and crafts, drawing was for him like nature, the refined work of wood, all of which led him to studies in applied arts and later to a school of space design. Freshly graduated as an Interior Architect Designer, he unhesitatingly chose independence and created his own architecture and design agency. This project was the culmination of everything he aspired to. It allowed him to express his affection for architecture while keeping his Madeleine de Proust which is sculpture and drawing. He works on his creations in a very special way, first he imagines them without drawing or implementing them concretely, he lets the idea mature, then at late hours when his inspiration takes place, he brings this creation to light, then he models it and gives it a framework, a story, a life. Being able to sculpt it in the imagination is important for him because it allows him to memorize all the details, the emotions that the work provides. Then the day arrives! It’s time to give birth to the work, this is translated by a research of materials and the technique of realization, from there appears another phase: that of the discovery of a form which only asks to be expressed, a work is born while others take their time before being realized, sometimes going up to 10 years…
