Me, It’s TEMPO N.O.K and I was born in 1982
When I was 17, I have discovered « Graffiti » in the suburbs of Paris, in a small city called « Vigneux-sur-seine », where I grew up.
My artist’s name comes from a shortcut of « Temporality » and from the acronymn « N.O.K » in which I belong since 1999. « N.O.K. » is a collective association where I was able to explore the various techniques of the art of graffitisin various places.
While I was travelling to Japan in 2006, I have been invited by few japaneese artists, namely « Imaone » and « Ndec ». Out of this cultural exchange, a well-known wall painting has be executed, called : « The Ghost Tunnel ». While using domestic coating, I have decided to play diluated colors in order to achieve my first art work. My own style was born in this mythic place.
Since then, I have refiined my paintings by adding more techniques and onirism which definitely are in opposition of the Graffiti art works. My main references are always in link with transparencies having for references the painter Sebatien Stoskopf, Dokoupil and via designers, such as Gordijn & Nauta or Emmanuelle Etienne. The soap’s bubbles, and their transparencies became my artist’s signature. Soft and delicate, trough which I strive to transmit strong emotions.
My favoutite subject, « Memento Mori » – Remember that you are going to die – is a pictural style which pays a tribute and not to idolatry to death. I am always trying to capture an beauty’s moment so short compare to the universe’s scale. I always try to include the surroundings through light’s reflects like the Flemish painter Van Eyck.
Besides current exhibitions, I prepare new collaboration with some artists with whom I share common values.
