Historia – Léo Caillard
14 October to 23 November 2020
Léo Caillard’s work is polymorphous. Moving easily from sculpture to photography, he has produced numerous series that have made him the talk of the town, notably Hipsters in Stone, which dresses up ancient statues like modern-day hipsters. This series could be seen in March 2018 at King’s College London during the exhibition Classical Now.
Historia is a retrospective of Léo Caillard’s research from 2014 to 2020. The Teodora Galerie focuses this exhibition on a single theme: the notion of time, both in its conceptual form and in its scientific approach. Historia shows the evolution of matter in use, the path of its perception by both the artist and the viewer.
Léo Caillard is an artist who questions the history of art. In parallel to his retrospective at the Teodora Galerie, the artist will exhibit at the Dali Museum, aesthetically echoing Dali’s works and his relationship with antiquity.
