« Femme, je vous aime »
From June 5 to August 31, 2019 – Teodora Galerie, Paris 8th district
What representations for women today?
In a world in constant evolution where morals, the notion of gender, roles and fantasies are changing, only certain classics seem to remain fixed and among them the interest in women. Between object of desire, source of inspiration, pillar of the family or subject of controversy and debate, whether political, societal, sociological or religious, the view of women has also adapted to its time. The creations of male and female artists offer us a glimpse of the plurality of responses and views that each gender has of her.
The exhibition Femmes, je vous aime from June 5th to August 31st 2019 gathers 5 artists including 2 painters, 1 stencil artist, 1 plastic artist and 1 sculptor at the Galerie Teodora, located 25 rue de Penthièvre, Paris 8e. I have organised this exhibition on the theme of the representation of contemporary women.
Together, these five artists offer us a cross-section of the female figure: on the one hand, an ephemeral presence bearing the stigma of urban life, and on the other, a posed, carefree and seductive silhouette. We can guess her behind almost too perfect curves that can also be likened to life lines. In sculpture, the patina of the bronze leaves a sensual serenity.
Collage, stencil, sculpture, airbrush, aerosol: the plurality of mediums transcribes different images of femininity.
